Teaching

I graduated from Pratt with a Masters in Art and Design Education. Upon completing that degree, I was invited back to co-teach two classes: Professional Practices and Saturday Art School. These two courses prepare students to complete their final teaching exam, the TPA. While I was instructing at Pratt I was also working as a long term subsitute at LaGuardia High School. The two positions were both very novel to me and I learned so much throughout this process.

I have been working as a pier diem substitute and I have been lucky to be able to have three long term coverages at LaGuardia. The long term coverages have been an invaluable learning experience for me. They have given me the opportunity to teach and take ownership of a classroom while also having the support of the teacher that I am covering for.  Inbetween long term coverages, I cover for art teachers when needed and make sure that the students continue to produce work even when their teacher is not present. I have had the opportunity to work with all high school grades in a variety of media.

Prior to substitute teaching, I student taught at LaGuardia High School, Pratts Saturday Art School and P.S. 503 The School of Discovery.
