Pratt Saturday Art School
My final student teaching experience was at Pratts Saturday Art School where I co-taught a class called ‘Drawn to Stories’, a narrative drawing class for 4th and 5th graders. I taught a character design drawing class for one hour and then my classmate taught a narrative photography class afterwards for one hour. Saturday Art School lasted for 10 weeks, and within those 10 weeks I taught my learning segment for the TPA.
Students began the project by using an assortment of objects to create a body compostion to use as a reference for the drawing. They then created an underdrawing from both observation and imagination. Students then mixed a limited color palette and added textures to their character design. Students concluded the project by adding accessories and/or an enviornment to add to the narrative.
